Horn is keratin rather than bone, and Anco's argument for it is exactly that: their line is that lamb horns are much less likely to splinter than processed bone, because chewing grinds the surface away in layers instead of cracking it into shards.

That grinding is slow, which is what makes a horn last where a braid does not. Anco declare 68% protein, 9.9% fat and 7% crude ash — under the 10% fat mark they use as their threshold for dogs on restricted-fat diets.
