Westland Tree & Shrub Specialist Planting Mix 50L – Compost for Establishing Trees and Shrubs
Most trees and shrubs that fail do so in the first two seasons, and the usual reason is the planting hole rather than the plant. Backfilling with the same tired, compacted soil that came out of the hole gives new roots nothing to grow into, and in heavy ground it can leave the rootball sitting in a sump.
This is a planting mix made for that job specifically. It is blended to be used in and around the planting hole, opening up the backfill so young roots can push out into the surrounding ground rather than circling in the hole they were put in. The 50 litre bag covers a decent-sized planting.

How to Use
- Dig a hole considerably wider than the rootball but no deeper
- Fork over the base and sides of the hole to break up any compaction
- Mix the planting mix with the excavated soil and use it to backfill
- Plant at the same depth the plant was growing before, firm gently and water in thoroughly
- Stake where needed and mulch the surface, keeping mulch off the stem

- Not a potting compost — intended for use in the ground at planting time
- Do not plant deeper than the original soil mark on the stem

If you miss a delivery, please contact the carrier to arrange a re-delivery. After three unsuccessful delivery attempts, the parcel will be returned to us and a refund will be processed.
