Belvoir Leather Balsam is the heavy end of Carr & Day & Martin's leather care: a soft lanolin and beeswax paste for tack that needs feeding rather than wiping over. Carr & Day & Martin position it for new or fine leather that wants breaking in gently, and for leather at the other extreme — dry, cracked, or saturated and dried out hard after a wet winter.

It is a conditioner, not a cleaner, and it works properly only on leather that is already clean. Their own sequence is Belvoir Tack Cleaner first, then the balsam, which is why the two tend to live on the same shelf. Applied sparingly and left ten minutes before buffing, it leaves tack supple with a deep shine rather than a greasy surface.

How to Use

• Clean and dry the leather first. Balsam applied over dirt seals the dirt in.
• Test on a hidden area before doing the whole item — Carr & Day & Martin advise this, and it matters most on pale leather.
• Apply sparingly with a cloth or sponge, working it into the leather.
• Leave for about ten minutes to soak in.
• Buff with a soft, dry cloth to bring up the shine.
