Ancol Polar Fleece Dog Jumper – Blue, Small (30cm back)

Ancol's Snug Fit Polar Fleece is a jumper rather than a coat: sleeves, a ribbed chest and a hook-and-loop closure running the length of the spine, so it goes on and comes off without wrestling legs through holes. In Small it is cut for a 30cm back length and a 54–68cm chest girth.

Fleece is dry-cold clothing. It traps a useful amount of air for its weight and it moves with the dog, but there is no waterproof layer, so this is the jumper for a frosty morning, a draughty house or a thin-coated dog after a bath — not for standing about in rain.

How to Use

• Measure the back length from the base of the collar to the base of the tail with the dog standing square, then measure the chest girth just behind the front legs.
• Lay the jumper over the back, put the front legs through the sleeves and close the hook-and-loop strip along the spine.
• Check you can slide a flat hand under the chest panel, and that the sleeves are not pinching the armpits.
• Take it off indoors once the dog has warmed through, and after any walk where it has got damp.

Care & Caution

• Hand wash or machine wash in cool water. Air dry naturally; do not tumble dry or dry on a radiator, which distorts the fleece and lifts the reflective edging.
• Fleece holds water. A soaked jumper chills a dog faster than no jumper at all, so take it off once it is wet.
• Take the jumper off for crating, unsupervised time and rough play — the spine fastening can snag on a long coat or on furniture.
• Watch for rubbing under the armpits on a deep-chested dog, and stop using it if you find bare patches.
