Honeychop Super Senior – Soft Fibre Blend

Super Senior is Honeychop's soft fibre blend for older horses, or younger ones starting to show their age. It sits in the Free From range — no molasses, no alfalfa, no soya, no barley and no added sugar — and it is chopped soft, which matters a great deal to a horse whose teeth are not what they were.

What separates it from the rest of the range is what goes in on top: glucosamine hydrochloride for joints and yeast for the hindgut, on a base of oat straw, Timothy, fescue, dried grass, sunflower meal, beet pulp, rice bran and linseed. Honeychop analyse it at 25% fibre, 11% protein, 7% oil, 6% total sugar and 3% starch, at 10MJ/kg.

Feeding

• Honeychop's rate is 150–300g per 100kg of bodyweight daily, so 750g to 1.5kg for a 500kg horse.
• Roughly 300g fills a standard Stubbs scoop.
• Adjust to workload, body condition and temperament.
• Split across the day's feeds rather than giving it in one, and change over gradually.
• Fresh water at all times.

• Composition: oat straw, dried Timothy, dried fescue, dehulled sunflower seed meal, dried sugar beet pulp, dried grass, rice bran, rapeseed oil, full fat linseed meal, marigold flowers, calcium carbonate, sodium chloride, thyme, oregano, mint, basil, glucosamine hydrochloride (vegetarian).
• Analysis: fibre 25%, protein 11%, oil 7%, total sugar 6%, starch 3%, digestible energy 10MJ/kg.
