Simple System PuraBeet – 20kg

PuraBeet is unmolassed beet pulp, sold as a straight feed material with nothing added and nothing taken away. The distinction is worth knowing: molassed beet pulp is one of the commonest ways sugar gets into a feed marketed as fibre, and PuraBeet simply does not do it. Sugar is declared under 8% and starch under 5%.

Soaked, it becomes one of the more useful things in a feed room. It carries a small hard feed, adds highly digestible fibre without starch, and gives a horse that can no longer manage long fibre something it can actually eat. Crude protein is modest at 7–10%, so it bulks and it fuels, but it does not build — that job belongs to a balancer alongside it.

Suitable For

Feeding

• Introduce gradually over a week, as with any new feed.
• Soak for approximately 12 hours in cold water, 1 part PuraBeet to 5 parts water.
• Start at 50g per 100kg bodyweight daily, dry weight before soaking — 250g a day for a 500kg horse.
• Increase as required, up to a maximum of 2.5kg a day dry weight.
• A level Stubbs bowl scoop holds approximately 1.6kg dry weight.

Care & Caution

• PuraBeet must be fed soaked. Never feed it dry — unsoaked beet pulp swells after it is swallowed and is a serious choke and colic risk.
• Allow the full soaking time. In warm weather, soak it somewhere cool and discard any that has soured.
• Keep the dry sack where a loose horse or pony cannot reach it.
