Six kilos of small-breed kibble is a lot of food when the dog eating it takes 80g a day, which is why this size tends to be bought by households with two or three small dogs rather than one. At the 10kg maintenance rate of 120g a day it works out at fifty days; at 3kg and 50g a day, four months, which is longer than kibble should really sit open.

The recipe is the same in both bag sizes: 52% chicken across freshly prepared and dried, 34% crude protein, 391 kcal per 100g, and joint support at 830 mg/kg each of glucosamine and MSM with 610 mg/kg chondroitin sulphate. The kibble is made small so a toy breed can pick it up and crunch it rather than swallow it whole.

Feeding

• Adult small breeds, under an hour of exercise: 50g a day at 3kg, 80g at 5kg, 100g at 7kg and 120g at 10kg.
• Over an hour of exercise a day: 65g, 100g, 120g and 150g at those same weights.
• Puppies are fed on expected adult weight: 65g rising to 90g for a toy breed, 145g to 180g for a 5–10kg dog, 215g to 255g for a 10–25kg dog.
• Keep the bag rolled down and clipped; a 6kg bag spends a long time open in a one-dog house.
• Change food over across a week, and adjust the ration by 10% either way on condition.
