Canagan Chicken with Salmon Wet Cat Food – 75g

Salmon at 5% on the standard base of 58% chicken breast and 31% chicken broth. Salmon is the recognisable one — the flavour most cats will already have met and accepted — so this tends to be the easiest of the fish-flavoured chicken cans to move a suspicious cat onto.

It is one of only two chicken cans Canagan declare at 2% crude fat rather than 3%, the other being Chicken with Seabass. That is a small margin, but it is the right small margin if a cat is being kept trim.

Feeding

• Canagan publish one figure for their cat cans: two to three cans a day for any adult cat.
• Canagan publish no separate kitten figure for the cans — their kitten guides cover the dry food and the 85g pouches — so feed a kitten to condition and growth.
• Canagan advise adjusting by 10% either way if your cat is carrying too much or too little condition.
• Serve at room temperature — cold from the fridge dulls the smell, and cats feed on smell.
• Cover and refrigerate an opened can and use it within a day.

• Nutritional additives per kg include taurine at 611 mg, with vitamins A, D3 and E and the usual trace elements. Cats cannot make enough taurine themselves, so a complete cat food has to supply it.
