Henry Bell Sterling Nyger Feeder – 32cm
Nyger is a tiny, oil-rich black seed that pours straight out of an ordinary seed feeder, so it needs a feeder made for it. This is the nyger feeder from Henry Bell's Sterling Collection: 32cm of hardwearing silver aluminium with a simple open lid and a removable base, matching the rest of the Sterling range on a feeding station.
Put nyger out and the birds that come for it are mostly goldfinches, with siskins and redpolls in winter in the right areas — fine-billed finches that will happily ignore a seed mix. A dedicated feeder also keeps this comparatively expensive seed where it belongs instead of on the ground.

How to Use
- Open the lid and fill with nyger seed; a funnel or jug stops the fine seed spilling.
- Hang from a feeding station, hook or branch in an open spot where finches can see around them.
- Goldfinches may take a week or two to find a new feeder, so start with a part fill.
- Nyger clumps if it gets wet. Check the base after rain and tip out anything caked.
- Wash with warm water and a bird-safe hygiene spray every week or two and dry before refilling.
