Copdock Mill Range Layers Mash Complete Feed for Poultry, 5kg, with Verm-X
Copdock Mill Range Layers Mash with Verm-X – 5kg
Range Layers Mash is Copdock Mill's complete ration for laying birds, ground rather than pelleted, with the Verm-X herbal blend worked in at 0.9kg per tonne. Mash takes a hen considerably longer to eat than a pellet, which suits birds that would otherwise clear the trough in minutes and spend the rest of the day looking for something to peck at.
This is the 5kg carry-home pack: roughly a fortnight for three or four hens, and the sensible way to try the mash before committing to a 20kg bag. Verm-X is herbal rather than medicinal, so there is no egg withdrawal period to work around.
Performance & Benefits
- Complete layers ration — a hen fed this needs nothing but grit, water and what she forages.
- Ground mash form slows eating down and suits birds that bolt pellets or have beak damage.
- Verm-X herbal blend included at 0.9kg per tonne for gut and intestinal support.
- No egg withdrawal period; eggs can be eaten throughout.
- Grass meal and paprika in the mix both contribute to yolk colour.
- 5kg carry-home pack, easy to lift and quick for a small flock to clear while fresh.
Suitable For
- Laying hens, and ducks, geese and bantams in lay.
- Small back-garden flocks where a 20kg bag would go stale before it was finished.
- Keepers who prefer mash to pellets, or whose birds waste pellets.
- Anyone trying the feed before buying the 20kg bag.
- Not for chicks or growers — the calcium here is set for laying birds. Copdock Mill Chick Starter Micros and Growers Pellets are the feeds for those stages.
Feeding
- Feed ad lib, allowing a minimum of 120g per hen per day — Copdock Mill's own figure for Range Layers Mash.
- Introduce a layers ration about three weeks before point of lay, not before.
- Mash can be fed dry or lightly damped. Damp mash sours, so clear and wash the trough daily.
- Keep insoluble flint grit available separately. Oyster shell and limestone supply shell calcium; flint grit does the grinding in the gizzard, and they are not interchangeable.
- Clean fresh water at all times.
Composition & Analysis
- Composition: wheat, wheatfeed, hipro soya bean extract (GM#2), calcium carbonate, barley, sunflower extract, grass meal, vegetable oil, dicalcium phosphate, sodium chloride, DL-methionine, paprika, L-lysine HCl, antioxidant, layers supplement, with Verm-X included at 0.9kg per tonne.
- Analytical constituents: crude oil and fats 4.0%, crude protein 17.0%, crude fibre 5.0%, crude ash 13.5%, moisture 14.0%.
- Also declared: calcium 4.0%, phosphorus 0.5%, sodium 0.2%, lysine 0.71%, methionine 0.35%, total copper 18 mg/kg.
- Copdock Mill publish these figures for Range Layers Mash and no separate analysis for the Verm-X version, which is the same mash with Verm-X added.
- Pack size 5kg. Also supplied as a 20kg bag.
Care & Caution
- Calcium is declared at 4.0%. That is right for a hen in lay and wrong for a young bird. Chicks and growers must not have it: a sustained calcium load before point of lay damages the kidneys.
- Verm-X is a herbal blend, not a licensed wormer. Where a worm burden is diagnosed it does not replace a veterinary anthelmintic.
